Hear the job. Protect your ears. Stay on the radio.
The 3M Peltor WS ProTac XPI is a Bluetooth headset and Class 5 hearing protector in one. It lets you stay connected to your two-way radio or phone while still protecting your hearing on a noisy site.
Features and benefits
- Bluetooth 4.2 with MultiPoint means you can pair to your radio and your phone at the same time, for a supervisor who needs both lines open.
- Level-dependent environmental listening means you still hear reversing beepers, shouted warnings and machinery, for anyone working around moving plant.
- Noise-cancelling IP68 boom microphone means your voice comes through clearly in wind, rain or dust, for tradies working outdoors around the Bay.
- Class 5 hearing protection (32dB SLC80, tested to AS/NZS 1270) means proper ear protection in noise up to 110dB(A), for operators running saws, grinders or heavy machinery.
- Push-To-Listen (PTL) means you can have a quick face-to-face chat without pulling the headset off, for site staff in and out of conversations all day.
- Bright hi-vis yellow shell means you're easier to spot on a busy site or roadside, for supervisors doing a headcount at a glance.
- Stainless steel wire headband means the fit holds up to daily wear, for anyone wearing it shift after shift.
- Auto shut-off and efficient power management means fewer flat batteries mid-shift, for fleet and site managers who don't want call-outs about dead comms.
Watch it in action
[Video to be added: no product-in-use video is currently live on this page. Recommended footage: a worker on a construction or forestry site pairing the headset to a two-way radio and phone by Bluetooth, showing the Push-To-Listen function in use next to a running saw or digger, and a close-up of the boom microphone and hi-vis shell. 30 to 60 seconds is enough.]
Summary: the 3M Peltor WS ProTac XPI pairs to two Bluetooth devices at once, so you can run your radio and phone through one headset. Level-dependent listening lets background sound in when it's safe and shuts it out when it's loud, and Push-To-Listen lets you talk to someone standing next to you without taking the headset off. It's Class 5 rated for hearing protection and built to handle wind, rain and dust on site.

FAQs
Do I need a licence to use this headset?
No. It's an accessory that connects to your existing radio or phone, so no licence is needed for the headset itself. Your two-way radio may still need a licence depending on the frequency it operates on.
Will it work with my current two-way radio?
It connects by Bluetooth to any Bluetooth-enabled radio or phone, and most modern two-way radios support this. Get in touch with MSL and we'll confirm compatibility with your specific model.
Is it waterproof?
The boom microphone carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, so it's built for wet-weather sites around the Bay of Plenty and beyond.
How long does the battery last?
3M doesn't publish a fixed run-time for this model, and it depends on Bluetooth use and volume. The headset has automatic shut-off to help preserve battery life across a shift.
Can I wear this with a hard hat?
This listing is the standalone headband version. 3M also makes a helmet-attachment version (MT15H7P3EWS6). Contact MSL if you need the helmet-mount option.
