Radio Programming Services

Mobile Systems provides two-way radio programming services for businesses across the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupō and Waikato, with nationwide dispatch available for radios purchased or serviced through us. We programme channels, tones, scan lists and encryption settings on Tait, Hytera, Motorola, Icom, GME and Uniden radios, whether you're setting up a new fleet, adding units to an existing network, or updating frequencies after an RSM licence change. Most programming is done immediately, in-house at our Mount Maunganui workshop, with every radio bench-tested before it's returned or dispatched.

What Does Radio Programming Involve?

Every two-way radio needs to be told which channels to use, what tones or codes to filter out interference, and how to behave on a shared network. That's radio programming. We connect each unit to our programming software, load your channel plan and settings, then test transmit and receive on every channel before handover. It's a precise job. Get it wrong and your team ends up with dead air at the worst possible moment.

Brands We Programme

We programme Tait, Hytera, Motorola, Icom, GME and Uniden two-way radios, whether they're analogue or digital, handheld or fixed-mount. As a brand-independent supplier, we're set up to programme radios you already own, not just ones bought from us.

When You Need Reprogramming

A few common triggers worth knowing about:

  • You've been issued a new RSM frequency licence and need channels updated to match
  • You're growing the fleet and new units need to match the existing channel plan
  • You're moving from analogue to digital and need channels rebuilt for DMR
  • You've bought second-hand radios and need old settings wiped and replaced
  • Your current channel plan is cluttered or poorly set up and needs a clean rebuild

Turnaround & Pricing

Most radios are programmed immediately while you wait or drop off. Pricing is $35 per radio plus time taken for more involved jobs, such as large fleets or complex channel plans. We accept courier-in radios from anywhere in New Zealand, so you don't need to be near Mount Maunganui to use this service.

FAQs

Can you programme radios I didn't buy from Mobile Systems?

Yes. We regularly programme radios bought elsewhere, including second-hand units. Bring in the radio and, if you have one, your current or new RSM licence details.

Do I need a new RSM licence before reprogramming?

Only if you're changing frequencies or moving to a licensed channel plan. Many short-range UHF uses don't require one. We'll confirm what applies before we touch your settings.

How long does programming take?

Most radios are programmed immediately, whether you're waiting or dropping off. Larger fleets or more involved channel plans take longer, and we'll let you know a timeframe upfront.

How much does radio programming cost?

$35 per radio, plus time taken for jobs that need more work, such as large fleets or complex channel plans. We'll confirm cost before starting anything out of the ordinary.

Can I post my radios in for programming instead of visiting Mount Maunganui?

Yes. We accept courier-in radios from anywhere in New Zealand. Include a note with your channel requirements and contact details, and we'll programme and return them by courier.
