A fleet communication solution is an integrated system that keeps a mobile workforce connected and visible across every vehicle and site. It usually combines two-way radio or Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) for instant voice, GPS tracking for live vehicle and asset location, and in-cab accessories that keep drivers hands-free and compliant. Mobile Systems Limited designs, supplies, installs and services these systems for transport, construction and industrial fleets from our base in Mount Maunganui. With over 25 years keeping critical teams connected, we match the technology to how your fleet actually runs, then stand behind it long after it goes in.

What a modern fleet communication system includes
Ever tried running a fleet with no real idea where your trucks are, or whether the driver even heard you? A proper system closes those gaps. Most fleet builds bring together four core parts.
Two-way radio or PoC
Instant, one-to-many voice whether your crews are in coverage or well past it. Two-way radio suits tight sites and remote ground, while PoC rides the cellular network for nationwide range.

GPS fleet tracking
Live location for every vehicle and asset, so dispatch, job allocation and your RUC and safety records run off real data, not guesswork.

Mounts, antennas, speakers and hands-free kit installed so drivers stay focused on the road, not fumbling with a handset.

Man-down and check-in features for crews working alone or after hours, so nobody drops off the radar.

Why fleets outgrow consumer gear
If your radios dropped out tomorrow, would your drivers still be safe and on schedule? For a lot of fleets the honest answer is no. Ageing handhelds, mismatched brands that will not talk to each other, and DIY installs all look fine until the day conditions turn.
That is when the weak link shows: dead zones in gorges and valleys, half-heard messages in a noisy cab, and crews switching comms off because they cause more hassle than they solve. On a working fleet, a thin communication link quietly lifts both your risk and your running costs.
Fleet-grade kit, specified and installed properly, is what turns communication from a daily annoyance into something your team actually trusts.
How we design a system that fits your fleet
No two fleets run the same way, so an off-the-shelf template rarely holds up. We start with how your vehicles move, where coverage drops away, and what your crews need to do their job safely.
From there we design the system end to end, source the right blend of radio, PoC and tracking, install it across your fleet, and programme and license every unit correctly. It is the same disciplined approach behind our communications system design and build service, scaled to the size of your operation.
You get one system, planned as a whole, rather than a box of parts that never quite work together.
Built for transport, construction and industrial fleets
Our fleet work sits with the operators who feel every minute of downtime: transport and logistics, construction, and industrial sites. Whether you run five vehicles or fifty, we build communication around how your fleet earns its keep.
Our mobile technicians install and service on site across the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupō, South Waikato, the Volcanic Plateau and Eastern Waikato. Beyond that, we supply equipment nationwide and work with trusted partner businesses for servicing.
Why order your fleet communication system through MSL
Plenty of places will sell you a radio. Far fewer will design the whole system, fit it to your vehicles, and still pick up the phone when something needs sorting two years on.
- Relationships first: we learn your operation, not just your order.
- Service speed: five mobile technicians across our home region, plus trusted partners beyond it.
- Technical depth: brand-independent expertise across two-way radio, PoC, GPS tracking and satellite, so the advice fits your fleet, not a sales target.
- Full lifecycle: design, supply, installation, licensing and programming, and ongoing repairs and servicing.
That is what keeps fleets with us: not the first sale, but every day after it.
Fleet communication solutions FAQs
What is the difference between two-way radio and PoC for a fleet?
Two-way radio gives you instant voice over your own licensed channels, which is ideal on sites and remote ground with no cellular coverage. PoC, or Push-to-Talk over Cellular, uses the mobile network for nationwide range with no repeater infrastructure to build. Many fleets run both, and we help you decide which belongs where.
Do I need GPS tracking as well as radios?
Not always, but most fleets gain from it. GPS tracking adds live location, cleaner job allocation, and a solid record for RUC and health and safety. It works alongside your voice comms rather than replacing them.
Can you standardise an existing mixed fleet?
Yes. We regularly bring fleets running several brands and generations of gear onto one system, so everything finally talks to each other. We handle the install, programming and licensing across every vehicle.
Do you support fleets outside the Bay of Plenty?
Yes. We supply fleet communication equipment nationwide. Our own technicians install and service on site across the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupō, South Waikato, the Volcanic Plateau and Eastern Waikato, and we work with trusted partner businesses for servicing beyond that.
