What's the difference between Icom's analog and digital portable radios?
Icom's standard portables, such as the IC-F1000 and IC-F2000, are analog only. The D-series and DS-series models, such as the IC-F2100D and IC-F2100DS, support both analog and digital operation on the same radio, which is useful if you're transitioning a fleet to digital over time rather than switching everything at once. Which Icom marine radio do I need for AIS and DSC?
For a handheld with built-in GPS, AIS and DSC, the IC-M94D and IC-M94DE are Icom's most capable options. For a fixed mount setup, models such as the IC-M330GE and IC-M423G build in GPS, with AIS and DSC functionality varying by model.
