GME MT605G EPIRB – 406MHz, GNSS, Manual Activation

EPIRB | GNSS Positioning | Manual Activation

MSL's entry-level EPIRB. A premium, user-activated beacon with integrated GNSS for offshore and remote marine safety, without the added cost of AIS alerting or auto-release housing.

GME MT605G Overview

The GME MT605G is a manually activated 406MHz EPIRB with integrated GNSS positioning, built for fast, accurate distress signalling when it matters most. Its secure flip-up design gives the user full control over activation, while a dual-frequency homing signal helps rescue craft close in during the final approach.

Compact enough to store on any vessel, liferaft, or survival kit, the MT605G is designed to operate reliably in harsh marine environments.

Key Features

  • 406 MHz alerting means your distress signal transmits on the global Cospas-Sarsat emergency frequency, for international coverage wherever you are.
  • Integrated GNSS means rescue authorities get a rapid, precise location fix, for faster coordination of the search.
  • Manual activation means you control exactly when the beacon deploys, for situations where automatic activation isn't appropriate.
  • 121.5 MHz homing signal means search and rescue craft can home in during final approach, for the last stretch of a rescue when precision matters most.
  • Compatible with GME's float-free bracket means the beacon can auto-deploy on water immersion if fitted, for vessels wanting that extra layer of protection.
  • LED status indicator means you can check battery health, activation, and transmission status at a glance, for confidence before every voyage.
  • Compact and lightweight means easy storage on any vessel, liferaft, or survival kit, for boats where space is at a premium.

Built for Serious Marine Safety

The MT605G suits offshore cruisers, commercial fishing and transport vessels, and recreational sailors who want a reliable, manually controlled EPIRB without the extra cost of AIS or auto-release features.

Frequently Asked Questions – GME MT605G EPIRB

1. Do I need a subscription to use the MT605G?

No. Like all EPIRBs, the MT605G has no ongoing costs after purchase. It operates on the international Cospas-Sarsat satellite network at no charge.

2. Can the MT605G auto-deploy if my vessel sinks?

Only if fitted with GME's compatible float-free bracket. On its own, the MT605G is a manual-activation unit that you deploy by hand.

3. How is the MT605G different from the MT606G?

The MT606G adds AIS distress broadcasting, alerting nearby AIS-equipped vessels directly, alongside the standard satellite alert. If you don't need that extra layer, the MT605G covers the core safety requirement at a lower price.

4. Do I need to register the MT605G?

Yes. All EPIRBs must be registered with the appropriate maritime authority before use, registration is free and ensures rescuers have your vessel details on file if the beacon is activated.
