Overview

The Hytera HM782 is a 25 watt DMR digital mobile radio for vehicles, plant and base stations, with GPS and Bluetooth built in. It runs both digital and analogue, so it works alongside an existing analogue fleet while you move across to digital at your own pace.

It suits transport and logistics, construction, utilities, councils and emergency services: anyone who needs clear, private, trackable communication between vehicles, sites and a base.

Choosing the Right Band

• VHF 136-174MHz generally carries further over open and rolling country, which is why it's common in forestry and rural work.
• UHF 400-470MHz generally performs better around buildings, plant and built-up areas.
• UHF 450-520MHz covers the upper UHF range, for networks licensed in that band.

Licensing

The HM782 runs on licensed business radio frequencies, so a radio licence from Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) is required. If you don't already hold one, Mobile Systems can manage the licence application and frequency planning on your behalf.

Installation, Programming and Support

A vehicle radio is only as good as its installation. Our technicians fit the HM782, its antenna and power supply, program it to your channels and fleet, and test it before handover.

On-site installation and support covers the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupō and Waikato directly. Outside that area, we install and support through our nationwide installer network, backed by our in-house workshop in Mt Maunganui. The HM782 carries a 3 year Hytera warranty.

Pair It with Handhelds

Most fleets run the HM782 in the vehicle alongside handhelds for people on foot. The Hytera HP782 portable shares the same digital platform, so vehicles and handhelds talk to each other on the same system.

Do I need a licence to use the Hytera HM782?

Yes. The HM782 runs on licensed business radio frequencies, so you need a licence from Radio Spectrum Management. Mobile Systems can manage the application and frequency planning for you.

Will the HM782 work with our existing analogue radios?

Yes. The HM782 runs both digital and analogue, so it can talk to your current analogue radios while you move the fleet to digital over time.

Can the HM782 track our vehicles?

The HM782 has GPS built in and can send each vehicle's location to a dispatcher or fleet system. To see vehicles on a map, you need dispatch or tracking software that works with your radio network. We can talk you through the options.

How far will the HM782 reach?

Range depends on terrain, antenna, band and whether you use a repeater, far more than on the radio itself. Vehicle to vehicle on open ground it reaches considerably further than a handheld, and a repeater on high ground can cover a whole district. We'll assess your area before recommending a setup.

Can you install it for us?

Yes. We install, program and test the HM782 across the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupō and Waikato, and through our installer network elsewhere in NZ.

Which band should I choose?
