Logic Puck: GNSS, WiFi and Bluetooth Module for Tait Mobile Radios
Adds location tracking, over-the-air fleet updates and wireless PTT to compatible Tait mobile radios, without replacing the radio itself.
Compatibility Note
The Logic Puck connects directly to the rear of select Tait mobile radios. It is not a standalone tracker: it's an add-on module, and the features available depend on which Tait mobile it's paired with (see Key Specifications below).
Overview
The Logic Puck is a compact GNSS, WiFi and Bluetooth module that plugs into the rear of a compatible Tait mobile radio, giving fleets in transport, construction and industrial operations location visibility and wireless flexibility without a separate tracking unit. It provides fast, accurate GNSS positioning for AVL and location-centric platforms, in-built WiFi for low-touch over-the-air fleet programming with Tait EnableFleet, and Bluetooth connectivity so teams can move between wired and wireless push-to-talk.
Key Features
- GNSS with ignition sense means fleet managers know exactly where a vehicle is and whether it's running, even in remote Bay of Plenty locations.
- In-built WiFi access point means techs can push fleet-wide radio programming updates over the air via Tait EnableFleet, instead of pulling every radio for a cable update.
- Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity means teams can pair wireless PTT accessories and headsets, then switch back to wired PTT whenever they need to.
- Compact dash-mount design means it installs cleanly alongside the radio without extra bulk in the cab.
- Wide operating temperature range (-20°C to +85°C) means it holds up in vehicles left in exposed Bay of Plenty conditions, hot or cold.
Applications
- Fleet vehicle location tracking (AVL) alongside an existing Tait mobile radio
- Over-the-air fleet radio programming with Tait EnableFleet
- Wireless PTT for transport, construction and industrial teams
- Worker safety and connectivity for teams already running compatible Tait mobiles
What's in the Box
- Logic Puck GNSS/WiFi/Bluetooth module
- 3m cable with DB15 connector and 2x flying leads (ignition sense, wired PTT)
Note: the datasheet doesn't list a separate dash mount bracket as an included item, only "dash mount" as the supported mounting option. Flagged below to confirm whether a mounting bracket is supplied or needs to be ordered separately.
Complete Your Setup
The datasheet lists compatible Bluetooth accessories as the Sensear SM1P and SM1P-Ex Smart Headset, Aina PTT Voice Responder, and Shokz OpenComm/OpenComm2. MSL's catalogue carries Sensear SM1P-EX and SM1P2 headsets, but not a plain "SM1P" model, so I haven't linked these as confirmed compatible accessories; the model naming doesn't match exactly and may be a different headset generation. Flagged below for Alan to confirm before linking.

FAQs
Does the Logic Puck need a radio licence to operate?
No separate licence is needed for the Puck itself; it's an accessory module for an already-licensed Tait mobile radio, not a standalone transmitter.
Is the Logic Puck waterproof?
No. The manufacturer specifies indoor/in-cab use only, so it's designed to sit behind the dash of a vehicle cab, not for outdoor or wash-down exposure.
Does the Logic Puck work as a standalone GPS tracker?
No. It only provides GNSS, WiFi and Bluetooth functionality when connected to the rear of a compatible Tait mobile radio; it isn't a self-contained tracking device.
Who is the Logic Puck suited to?
Transport, construction and industrial operators already running (or planning to run) a compatible Tait TM9300, TM9400, TM9700 or TM9800 series mobile radio, who want fleet location visibility and wireless PTT flexibility without swapping out their existing radios.
Does it work with Tait EnableFleet?
Yes. The in-built WiFi is designed for low-touch, over-the-air fleet programming updates when used with Tait EnableFleet.
