RFI CD93-70-73 Elevated Feed Mopole UHF Antenna, 450-470MHz
6.5dB gain with a ground-independent elevated choke. Fitted with 5m RG58 cable, no connector.
Overview
The CD93-70-73 is a rugged elevated feed UHF Mopole antenna designed for reliable communication in the 450-470MHz frequency range. With 6.5dB gain and a stainless steel whip, this antenna delivers enhanced performance for professional two-way radio systems in mobile or fixed installations.
Its elevated choke design offers improved ground independence, making it ideal for use on a variety of mounting surfaces, including gutter and roof bar positions where a full ground plane isn't available. This model comes fitted with 5m of RG58 cable, with no connector terminated, so you can fit the exact connector your radio needs.
Need a different UHF sub-band? This antenna is also part of a wider CD93 series, see "Other Bands in This Series" below.
Key Features
- 6.5dB gain means extended communication range over a standard unity-gain whip, for fleet operators who want more reach without stepping up to a full base-station antenna.
- Elevated feed design means ground-plane independence for installation flexibility, for vehicles being mounted on gutters, roof bars, or other non-ideal ground-plane positions.
- Stainless steel whip means maximum durability in outdoor conditions, for vehicles that live outside year-round.
- 5m RG58 cable included means you're ready to run a lead to your radio, fitting your own choice of connector.
- Compatible with a variety of mounting positions means installers aren't locked into a single roof-centre mount, for fleets with vehicles that have obstructions like lightbars or roof racks.
Applications
- Commercial vehicle installations
- Base station mounting
- Construction and field operations
- Emergency service vehicles

Cable Options
This listing comes with 5m of RG58 cable fitted but no connector terminated. If you'd prefer an antenna-only listing with no cable at all, see CD93-70-70 β same 450-470MHz frequency and 6.5dB gain, without the cable.
Other Bands in This Series
The CD93 series covers several UHF sub-bands at the same 6.5dB gain. If 450-470MHz isn't your operating frequency, see CD93-65-70 (400-420MHz), CD93-71-70 (470-490MHz), or CD93-72-70 (490-520MHz). These are different frequency bands, not direct substitutes, so pick the one that matches your licensed frequency.
FAQs
Does this need a large ground plane to work?
No, the elevated feed design is ground-independent, so it performs reliably even on surfaces with a limited ground plane.
Does the antenna include a connector?
No. It's supplied with 5m of RG58 cable already fitted, but no connector terminated, so you can fit the exact connector your radio needs. If you'd prefer no cable at all, see CD93-70-70 above.
What does 6.5dB gain actually mean in practice?
RFI rates the CD93 series at 6.5dB improvement over a 1/4 wave whip. Real-world pattern testing typically shows 1.5-2dB of actual gain, still a meaningful improvement, particularly in built-up areas and rugged terrain.
Where can this antenna be mounted?
Its ground-independent design suits a variety of mounting positions, including gutter mounts and roof bars, not just a traditional roof-centre mount.
Can Mobile Systems Limited install this antenna?
Yes. We supply, install, test, and support RFI antennas and complete two-way radio systems throughout New Zealand.
