STIHL ADVANCE ProCOM Earmuffs, Mesh Comms Headset
Class 5 hearing protection with automatic team communication, built for forestry and arboriculture.
Overview
The STIHL ADVANCE ProCOM is a hearing protection headset with a built-in mesh intercom. Switch it on and it links automatically to other ProCOM headsets nearby, up to 16 users at up to 600m in open terrain, with no pairing needed. It is tested to Class 5 under AS/NZS 1270, the highest class in that standard, so crews get proper protection and clear team communication in one headset.
This is the headband version, for use without a helmet. STIHL also makes helmet-mounted versions.
Key Features
- Automatic mesh intercom means up to 16 headsets connect the moment they are switched on, with 6 people able to talk at once, for a crew that stays in touch without handsets.
- Up to 600m range in open terrain means a spread-out forestry or tree crew stays connected, and every extra headset acts as a repeater to stretch the range further.
- Class 5 to AS/NZS 1270, SNR 32dB and NRR 25 means certified protection for chainsaw, chipper and machinery noise.
- Intelligent noise cancelling with ambient listening means you can hear your surroundings and warning sounds while harmful noise is reduced automatically.
- Bluetooth 4.1 phone connection means hands-free calls, music and Siri or Google Assistant without taking your phone out, with settings managed in the free ProCOM app.
- Pairs with a Bluetooth DMR radio means the headset's PTT button can key your radio, and radio calls take priority over everything else, for crews already running digital radios.
- Built-in FM radio means station scan and saved presets for the quiet moments, with the volume dropping automatically when your team speaks.
- IP64 rating with USB-C charging means it handles dust and splashes on site, and fully charges in about 2.5 hours for 9 to 17 hours of use.

- Forestry crews needing hands-free team communication
- Arborists and tree service teams working in noisy conditions

FAQs
Do I need a radio licence to use the ADVANCE ProCOM?
No individual radio operator licence is needed. The headset works in the 2.4GHz band (mesh at 2,410-2,475 MHz), the same licence-free band used by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, rather than a licensed two-way radio channel. If you have specific compliance questions for your operation, check with our team.
Can I connect the ADVANCE ProCOM to my two-way radio?
Yes, if your radio is a Bluetooth DMR radio. You can pair it as a second device, and the headset's PTT button then keys the radio. Radio calls take priority over mesh intercom, phone calls and music, and the mesh keeps working alongside.
Does the ADVANCE ProCOM work without a helmet?
Yes, this is the headband version, designed for use without a helmet. STIHL also makes helmet-mounted versions.
Is the ADVANCE ProCOM waterproof?
It is rated IP64, which means dust-tight and splash resistant, so it handles wet and dusty sites. It is not submersible, so keep it out of water and do not pressure wash it.
How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?
Battery life is 9 to 17 hours depending on the features you use, and a full charge takes about 2.5 hours from a standard USB-C cable on a 5V USB supply. It switches itself off after about 4 hours without a button press.
How long does the hearing protection last?
STIHL's manual gives a maximum life of approximately 3 years for professional use, counted from the manufacture date. Check the ear cushions regularly, and replace the hygiene kit at least twice a year.
