Overview

Dropping calls halfway between jobs? The Blackhawk Trucker Edge Compact is a 68cm ruggedised fibreglass 4G antenna built for utes, trucks and service vehicles that spend their day in fringe coverage. It delivers 4dBi gain on the low bands and 6dBi on the upper bands, covering 698 to 960MHz and 1710 to 2170MHz.

Pair it with a network-approved booster like the Cel-Fi ROAM R41 and you give your team a far better chance of holding calls and data on rural Bay of Plenty roads, forestry blocks and back-country runs. Less height than the full-size Trucker Edge, most of the performance.

• Ruggedised fibreglass rated to 210km/h wind means it is built for highway speeds and exposed coastal or hill-country conditions, for long-haul and rural operators.
• 4m fitted coax with SMA male connector means a direct connection to the antenna port on Cel-Fi boosters and many 4G routers, for a tidier install with fewer adapters.
• DC-grounded design means static build-up has a path to earth, adding a layer of protection for the booster or router behind it.
• 5G via Dynamic Spectrum Sharing means it can carry 5G on compatible repeaters such as the Cel-Fi R41, for fleets planning ahead. It does not cover 3.5GHz 5G.

Compatible Mounts

Blackhawk specifies a 38 to 52mm pole mount, and the antenna can also go onto a bullbar or vehicle body with an L bracket. These brackets suit the Trucker Edge Compact:

Is the Blackhawk Trucker Edge Compact tough enough for NZ conditions?
The Trucker Edge Compact is built from ruggedised fibreglass, rated for 210km/h wind and an operating range of -40°C to +65°C. Blackhawk does not publish an IP rating, so we recommend weatherproofing any exposed cable joins during install.

Do I need a licence to use this antenna?
You do not need a licence for the antenna itself. In NZ, mobile signal boosters must be approved for use on the network, so pair it with a network-approved booster. We can confirm the right Cel-Fi model for your network.

Will this antenna boost my phone on its own?
No, the antenna needs to connect to a booster such as the Cel-Fi ROAM R41, or to a router or modem with an external SMA antenna port. The antenna collects the signal, the booster does the work.

How do I mount the Trucker Edge Compact?
The Trucker Edge Compact mounts to a 38 to 52mm pole, or to a bullbar or vehicle body using one of the L brackets listed above. Brackets are sold separately, and our Bay of Plenty technicians can install the full system for you.

Should I choose the Compact or the full-size Trucker Edge?
Choose the Compact if height matters, it is 68cm tall with 4/6dBi gain. The full-size Blackhawk Trucker Edge stands 107cm and delivers 6/8dBi, better for the weakest coverage if you have the clearance.

Does it support 5G?
It supports 5G delivered via Dynamic Spectrum Sharing on compatible repeaters like the Cel-Fi R41. It does not cover the 3.5GHz band used for most standalone 5G.
