Icom IC-M430 Overview
Short on dash space? The Icom IC-M430 is a slim 25W VHF marine radio with built-in Class D DSC, an internal GNSS (GPS) receiver and plug-and-play NMEA 2000, all in a body just 52.6mm deep.
It is the first radio in its class with a colour display (per Icom's own research), with Light, Dark and Night modes so the screen stays readable in full sun or at night. Built-in hailer and foghorn functions, active noise cancelling and IPX7 waterproofing round out a radio built for working boats and weekend boats alike, from the Bay of Plenty coast to offshore.
Key Features
- 25W transmit with Class D DSC means a one-button distress alert with your position for skippers who need help fast and can't afford to fumble with menus.
- Built-in GNSS receiver means your DSC calls carry your position without wiring an external GPS, for owners fitting a radio to a smaller boat or a centre console.
- Slim 202 x 82 x 52.6mm body means it fits tight helm panels and side pods with room left for cabling, for installers working on modern consoles.
- MFD-style flush mounting with snap-on covers means a clean, screw-in installation with no visible hardware, for boat builders and refits that want a factory finish.
- Colour display with Light, Dark and Night modes means a screen you can actually read in glare or darkness, for crews operating early starts and late finishes.
- NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183-HS means position and AIS data shared with your chartplotter and other electronics, for vessels building a connected helm.
- Dual-station capability means full remote control from a second helm with the optional CommandMic, for sailboats and flybridge boats that run two control positions.
- Built-in 25W hailer, foghorn and active noise cancelling means clear calls over engine noise and a loud-hailer when you need one, for commercial operators and rescue crews.

FAQs
Is the Icom IC-M430 waterproof?
The IC-M430 is IPX7 rated for water protection, and Icom's AquaQuake water draining function clears water from the speaker so audio stays clear after a soaking.
Do I need a licence to use the IC-M430 in New Zealand?
To use a marine VHF radio in New Zealand you generally need a Maritime VHF Operator Certificate, and a DSC radio like the IC-M430 should be programmed with your vessel's MMSI number from Maritime NZ so the distress button sends your identity. Talk to us if you're unsure what applies to your vessel.
Does the IC-M430 have built-in GPS?
The IC-M430 has a built-in GNSS receiver with an internal antenna, so DSC calls include your position. If the radio is mounted inside a cabin where satellite reception is poor, add the optional UX-241 external antenna.
Who is the IC-M430 best suited to?
The IC-M430 suits anyone who wants a full-featured DSC radio in a tight dash: centre consoles, trailer boats, workboats and sailboats needing a second station.
Can the IC-M430 connect to my chartplotter?
The IC-M430 connects via NMEA 2000 (plug and play) or NMEA 0183-HS, and paired with an Icom MA-510TR it can send an individual DSC call to a selected AIS target.
Does the IC-M430 have a hailer?
The IC-M430 has a built-in 25W hailer and foghorn. Add the Icom SP-37 horn speaker for two-way hailer (listen-back) operation.
