RFI CD30-148470-53 VHF/UHF Dual Band Mobile Antenna β 148β174MHz / 400β470MHz, MBC Base with 5m Cable, No Connector
The RFI CD30-148470-53 VHF/UHF Dual Band Mobile Antenna is a professional-grade antenna designed to provide reliable communications across both VHF (148β174MHz) and UHF (400β470MHz) frequency bands. Ideal for organisations operating dual-band radio systems, this antenna eliminates the need for separate VHF and UHF antennas, providing a clean, efficient installation with dependable performance.
Important: this antenna is ground dependent. Unlike RFI's ground-independent Mopole antennas elsewhere in our range, the CD30 needs to be mounted on, or close to, a metal ground plane (such as a vehicle roof) to perform correctly. Mounting it on a non-metallic surface or well away from a ground plane will noticeably reduce performance.
Supplied with an MBC mounting base, 5-metre low-loss coaxial cable, and no fitted connector, the CD30-148470-53 offers installers the flexibility to terminate the cable with the connector best suited to their radio equipment.
Designed for commercial fleets, emergency services, utilities, transport, agriculture, mining, and government vehicles, this antenna delivers robust performance in demanding environments.
Why Choose the RFI CD30-148470-53?
The CD30-148470-53 provides reliable dual-band performance in a compact, durable antenna designed for professional mobile radio applications.
Key Features
- Dual-band operation covering 148β174MHz and 400β470MHz means one antenna handles both VHF and UHF radio systems, for fleets running mixed-band equipment.
- MBC mounting base and 5-metre low-loss coaxial cable included means a straightforward install with the base and most of the cable run sorted.
- Supplied without a fitted connector means installers terminate the cable with exactly the connector their radio needs.
- Flexible tapered stainless steel whip means excellent durability and resistance to knocks and vibration.
- Omnidirectional radiation pattern means consistent coverage while the vehicle is moving, in any direction of travel.
- Suitable for analogue and digital radio systems means one antenna works across mixed fleets running older and newer radios.

Frequently Asked Questions
What frequencies does the CD30-148470-53 support?
The antenna operates across both 148β174MHz VHF and 400β470MHz UHF, making it suitable for a wide range of licensed mobile radio systems.
Does this antenna need a ground plane to work properly?
Yes. Unlike RFI's ground-independent Mopole antennas, the CD30 is ground dependent and should be mounted on, or close to, a metal ground plane such as a vehicle roof. Mounting it away from a ground plane will reduce performance.
Can I use one antenna for both VHF and UHF radios?
Yes. The dual-band design allows a single antenna to support compatible VHF and UHF communications, reducing the need for multiple antennas.
Does the antenna include a connector?
No. The antenna is supplied with 5 metres of coaxial cable and no fitted connector, allowing installers to terminate the cable with the connector required for the specific radio.
Is this suitable for digital radios?
Yes. The antenna is compatible with both analogue and digital radio technologies operating within the supported frequency ranges.
What is an MBC base?
The MBC base is a robust mobile mounting solution designed to provide secure installation and reliable performance in commercial vehicle applications.
Can Mobile Systems Limited install this antenna?
Yes. We supply, install, terminate, test, and commission complete RFI antenna systems and two-way radio solutions for customers throughout New Zealand.
