Tait TP9760 DMR Portable Radio, 16 Keys, 136-870MHz
Full keypad, single band out of the box, with dual band or multiband a key away.
Best seller: Black / No DMR Trunking / Single Band VHF 136-174MHz, the standard configuration most fleets order. Hi-Viz Green, Orange, Red and Yellow suit sites needing extra visibility, and the DMR Trunking (TPAS080) option lets the radio work on a DMR Tier 3 trunked network.
Overview
The Tait TP9760 is the 16-key model in Tait's TP9700 range, with a full keypad for direct dialling and text messages. The radio hardware covers 136-870MHz, spanning VHF, UHF and 700/800MHz, and ships as a single band radio programmed to the band you need.
When your team needs to work across networks, a Dual Band or Multiband SFE key unlocks the extra bands on the same radio, with no new hardware. It runs DMR Tier 2 and Tier 3, MPT1327 and analogue FM, with Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi programming included. It's rated IP68, with IP65 protection against water jets, and tested to MIL-STD-810G.
Choose Your Configuration
| Configuration | Antenna supplied |
| Single Band VHF 136-174MHz (standard) | TPA-AN-051 multiband whip |
| Single Band UHF 378-520MHz | TPA-AN-051 multiband whip |
| Single Band 762-870MHz | TPA-AN-051 multiband whip |
| Dual Band (Dual Band SFE key) | TPA-AN-051 multiband whip |
| Multiband (Multiband SFE key) | TPA-AN-051 multiband whip |
All three single band builds are the same radio at the same price: the band is set when we program it. Every configuration ships with the TPA-AN-051 multiband whip, which covers 136-174MHz, 378-520MHz and 757-870MHz, so the antenna already suits a later upgrade to dual band or multiband.
Prefer a band-tuned antenna? Shorter, band-tuned antennas fit the same radio and can be added to your order:
- VHF helicals: TPA-AN-002 (136-151MHz), TPA-AN-003 (150-162MHz), TPA-AN-032 (155-167MHz), TPA-AN-004 (162-174MHz) and TPA-AN-034 (136-174MHz)
- UHF 378-470MHz: TPA-AN-037 whip or TPA-AN-038 helical
- UHF 450-520MHz: TPA-AN-012 whip or TPA-AN-015 helical
- 762-870MHz: TPA-AN-028 helical
A single band 896-941MHz build is also available to order. Get in touch and we'll quote it.
Key Features
- 136-870MHz hardware with SFE key upgrades means the radio can grow from one band to several without replacing it, for teams whose network needs may change.

- WiFi programming means setting and channel updates without handling every radio, for fleet managers running large teams.
- Bluetooth and GPS included means wireless headsets and location reporting at no extra cost, for hands-free users and dispatchers.

Frequently Asked Questions: Tait TP9760
Is the Tait TP9760 multiband out of the box?
The TP9760 ships as a single band radio. The hardware covers 136-870MHz, and a Dual Band or Multiband SFE key unlocks more bands on the same radio. Choose the configuration you need when ordering.
Which antenna comes with the TP9760?
Every TP9760 configuration ships with the TPA-AN-051 multiband whip, covering 136-174MHz, 378-520MHz and 757-870MHz. Shorter band-tuned antennas are available if you'd prefer one for your band.
Do I need the DMR Trunking (TPAS080) option?
You need the DMR Trunking option if your radios will run on a DMR Tier 3 trunked network. For conventional DMR, MPT1327 or analogue channels, choose None. If you're not sure, tell us about your network and we'll confirm.
Is the Tait TP9760 waterproof?
The TP9760 is rated IP68 for dust and water, with IP65 protection against water jets, and is tested to MIL-STD-810G. It's built for wet, dusty NZ worksites.
Do I need a licence to use the TP9760 in New Zealand?
The TP9760 works on licensed land mobile frequencies, so you need a radio licence from Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) for each band you use. We handle licensing and channel programming for you.
How long does the TP9760 battery last?
TP9760 battery life depends on how much you transmit, which mode you run and features like Bluetooth and WiFi. It ships with a 3300mAh high-capacity Li-Ion battery. Talk to us about the right setup and a spare for long shifts.
What's the difference between the TP9760 and the TP9755?
The TP9760 has a full 16-key keypad for direct dialling and text entry. The TP9755 has a four-key keypad for menus and channel selection. Both share the same 136-870MHz hardware, SFE key upgrades, batteries, chargers and audio accessories.
Does the TP9760 come with a charger?
The TP9760 doesn't include a charger. It uses the same batteries, chargers and audio accessories as other TP9000 radios. Add the single bay charger or the 6 bay charger for a team.
